Tiger Woods has arrived for his 25th Masters appearance, where he admitted to feeling worse but hitting the ball better compared to the previous year. In his 24th appearance, Woods had one of his worst performances due to an 18-month absence from professional golf events. Against all odds, he made the cut and played the weekend, but finished 23 strokes behind champion Scottie Scheffler with a score of 71-74, 78-78. Despite his struggles, Woods cherished the time he had at the event, especially as he didn’t know if he would play again. Mentally, Woods remains sharp and has all the shots, like he did in 2019, but it’s everything else that’s causing him trouble.
HBO’s new documentary on the life of Tiger Woods, titled “Tiger,” opens with a heartfelt plea from Woods’ late father, Earl, who speaks emotionally about his son’s potential to help others. The documentary, which airs over two Sundays on HBO, features no exclusive interviews with Woods. Instead, co-directors Matt Hamachek and Matthew Heineman relied on thousands of hours of archival footage and interviews with over two dozen subjects, including Tiger’s kindergarten teacher, high school girlfriend, and former caddie. The documentary explores the complex relationship between Tiger and his father, who was instrumental in bolstering Tiger’s mental strength but also made mistakes that strained their bond.
